This is how I "solved" the problem, too. And I must say that I do not like
it. ;)

Can we add the shutdown broadcast to the R1 kernel?

Oh, I have another question:
Why are the network card drivers put into drivers/network instead of
drivers/bin/network?
The Jamfiles are very confusing. I thought there was a standard method, but
the Jamfiles just "cp" the network drivers while other drivers are
automatically linked in "dev" and put into the "bin" folder.
