and here's me thing you were going to mention something about SSL/TLS ;p

this is interesting though - can you tell me where we'd use it? porting Win32 apps?

we had to make use of Thread Local Storage for the new libnet,
and google, which is fantastic (did I say it already ?) provided me with the
source code of the BeOS implementation :)
