Do I load it at the initialization of the kernel when I'm using the boot
disk, or can I load it in the Developer Edition install? It stops before it
loads the kernel because it can't read from my only hard drive which is on
that controller.

Did you try the replacement IDE driver ?
And btw once again, forget about R5.0.4, this is the media kit leaked from
Be Inc, not the release from BeOSOnline (they changed their version scheme
btw). So this does not have anything to do with IDE stuff.
I heard there was already a Promise IDE driver on bebits (that was
supperseeded by the replacement driver), does this one work for you ?
