Honestly you are repeating what has probably been discussed before
many times. I think in this case we just need to get all the Haiku
developers using Git for a while and this stuff will work itself out.
As you say, organically.

Plus if Oliver has already removed the tags from the GitHub and
Gitorious clones, that more or less solves your problem. If the main
Haiku-hosted repo still has the tags to satisfy the developers who
want it, others who want to avoid them can just use the GitHub or
Gitorious clones.

Though I guess we need to work out how the Git-based Haiku workflow
will be set up. Maybe if you are a developer with commit access to SVN
now, you have to work from the main Git repo once we move to that? I
guess we will get more information after BeGeistert?

I'd rather work from GitHub myself...
