uploaded for preliminary testing. Some minor adjustments needed to be
made owing to the removal of the be_locale global. I am observing some
interesting graphical artifacts in the GUI seemingly related to
bitmaps (i.e. some extra garbage pixels next to the favicon) though,
will try to find time to investigate the cause of those later today.
