In case anyone volunteers to do that, it would be interesting to try and
build them not with --prefix=/boot/develop/tools/gnupro, but with their fully
resolved paths, i.e. (currently)
/boot/develop/abi/x86/gcc{2,4}/tools/gcc-{2.95.3,4.3.3}-haiku-090629. This
might already resolve the issues with using the non-set gcc.
