I don't know if it still works, but as a workaround you can try to copy
these two modules from your alpha2 (I hope I got them right):

/system/add-ons/kernel/busses/ide/generic_ide_pci
/system/add-ons/kernel/bus_managers/ide
}}}
and put them in your nightly install respectively in:
{{{
/system/add-ons/kernel/busses/ata/ (replacing generic_ide_pci)
/system/add-ons/kernel/bus_managers/ (removing ata)
}}}
