 had a look at the syslog.

 there's nothing obvious.  Can u take a photo of the stack trace ("sc" i
 think from the debugger).

 There is a lot of noise in the log about MTRR setup, and USB hardware
 issues, so I wouldn't be surprised if either two were responsible.

 Have you tried booting without safe mode but selecting a vesa mode?  try
 setting a low resolution.

 try also disabling USB from the bios config if you can just to test it's
 not a USB issue.
