To reply to Axel, "The current scheme is just consistent with the rest of the OS (BTextView, BTextControl, ...), as well as real life books, and most web sites". Indeed, but that doesn't mean it's the best choice. I don't know you, but when I spend more than 20 minutes in front of a Word/OpenOffice document, I can feel my eyes are fatigued. Anyway, if anything, we should provide some sets of predefined color schemes as andreasf said (and just like Gnome do). And I guess I could work on it.
