I set the network to a static ip instead of DHCP. Still no luck with the
network. I rebooted with the static ip still set and the networking
started working, DHCP finds the ip, gateway, and ip dns addresses, but
will not use them. to get the system to use them one must set the network
to use static ip and re-boot.
