 I did a check and it seems like there are a large number of DIR fds open.
 See the log.

 I also checked the ulimit -Sn, which is set to 256. Increasing the limit
 to 1024 has worked and Haiku is building.

 So the question is:
 1. Is the limit on OS X too small and should the user change this?
 2. Should `package` anticipate this and under certain conditions raise the
 soft limit?
 3. Or is `package` too careless about the resources?
