I finally got a smartphone (Galaxy Note 7) and, though I've figured out
how to use everything
from retinal scanner to finding the melting point of ruby with nothing but
voice control, I've never touched a smartphone before this though- I
managed to order motorcycle parts over the phone internet- and it made me
paranoid of all the data I am probably leaking to the world to have made
that possible (even though I used paypal).
I have no conception of where and what data is locally stored for all
these functions to work-
and I could really use a firehosing on smartphone infosec and such, to
feel safe enough to log
in to email, bank, etc. I don't know where to start with this- too much
for simple searches. The concept of rooting the phone/removing all the
bloatware I'd like to understand too, even at a cursory level. 4 GB or RAM
in this, only 1.5 free with nothing running but os, I must be missing
something...
If we don't have a group anymore/at all, happy to pay for help with this
in food, beer, money,
or something. I'll be gone until next tues anyway though.
