it is the TV-NOW site, and I am simply trying to download a ZIP file that contains TV listings.

This is weird --
You are on the web page -- did you try hitting the applications key and
arrowing down to "save to target"?
Maybe the link is to a file that executes a script of some kind that does
this.
That's all I can think of.
If you have a low security level, then perhaps you have activex enabled,
which can open you up to all kinds of software running on your system to
implement some feature on the web page -- this can be legitimate or it can
be malicious, but it depends on the link and the site and what you are
clicking on the link for.

Good luck.

hi listers,

Well, i am using a Dell Dimension 8400 with a 3 GHZ P4 processor and 512 MB
RAM running Windows XP Home SP2. When i click on a link on a web site to
download a file, the Windows Search utility comes up and it appears that it
is looking for the file on my hard drive. If i don't click on the link and
bring up the context menu instead, I don't get the usual menu that offers
"Open, Save to Target", etc. The menu says things like "Back, Forward, Save
to foreground", etc. What is going on? It's becoming almost impossible to
do something as simple as downloading a file.
