UK NEWS
WANTED: ONE SECRET BUNKER IN SCOTLAND, MUST BE DOOMSDAY PROOF
Sunday June 3, 2012

IF you listen to the Doomsday prophets and their legions of Internet believers,
the end of the world is now just a few short months away.
With this in mind, a US company has begun scouring Scotland for the perfect
site for an underground bunker in which a handful of the planet's wealthiest
individuals can sit out the impending apocalypse.

Terra Vivos, which already has bolt-holes in Nebraska and Indiana, wants to
create a "long-term survival resort" with places available for £30,000 per head.

It describes the proposed facility as a "modern day Noah's Ark" containing
everything necessary to survive the supposed day of destiny on December 21 and
its aftermath.

That date marks the end of a 5,125-year cycle of the ancient Mayan calendar and
has sparked heated debates between scholars, scientists and religious leaders
for decades.
We are continuing our search for qualified sites in Scotland
A spokeswoman said

It has even been depicted in Hollywood blockbusters as marking the end of the
world from a number of mind-boggling disasters, from asteroids to global
tsunamis.

Last year, California-based Terra Vivos considered a bid for a disused Cold War
bunker at Cultybraggan, near Comrie in Perthshire.

However, that deal fell through and the firm is now searching for an
alternative Scottish site for one of its four planned shelters in Europe.

A spokeswoman said yesterday: "The Cultybraggan bunker was turned down for a
number of reasons, including its lack of fortification and government
intervention.

"We are continuing our search for qualified sites in Scotland, as well as a
critical mass of members for co-ownership of the anticipated Vivos shelter
there.

"With the end of the Mayan calendar rapidly approaching on December 21, 2012,
the potentially disastrous conditions appear to be lining up for the perfect
storm over coming years.

"The ripple effect of these events will have a catastrophic toll on those who
do not have a survival shelter solution."

There are a number of abandoned Cold War bunkers in Scotland being considered
by the firm, including at Barnton Quarry in Edinburgh and at Inverbervie in
Kincardineshire.

Masterminded by founder Robert Vicino, Terra Vivos claims to offer protection
against nuclear and biological war, terrorism, anarchy, electro-magnetic
pulses, solar flares, polar shifts, comets, a global tsunami, super volcanos
and undiscovered planets.

Those keen to secure their place in the bunker are asked to sign-up on the
company website, where they will be assessed before being asked to pay up to
£30,000 per person in a co-ownership deal with other members.

Each shelter boasts contemporary spacious living quarters, outfitted and
stocked for a minimum of one year of autonomous survival, with state-of-the-art
power generation, air filtering and security devices included.

Among the scenarios for Doomsday - which are believed by millions of people
worldwide - are the Earth's collision with objects such as a black hole,
passing asteroid or a planet called Nibiru.

The dire warnings are said to have influenced a number of celebrities,
including Shirley MacLaine, Mel Gibson and Woody Harrelson - who has spoken of
mankind "heading towards some kind of apocalypse".

And ahead of the dreaded date, many UK-based survivalists - particularly those
without such deep pockets - are already making plans to relocate to the
Highlands to try and survive any disaster.

Writing on the '2012 Forum', an online messageboard set up to discuss the
potential disaster, one poster said: "If I had to choose... my gut feeling
would be north, Scotland. Though it depends on a few things, I would need to
decide based on what occurs, what is affected, nature of destruction. But for
now, that is where my thoughts direct me towards."

Another added: "Some of my guys who will be staying in UK will be high up
towards Scotland I think. I know a few of my guys are already looking for
possible locations there."
