Not going to get in to a fight on this one. But if your friend did tell you
that, there wrong.
Totally wrong. It's actually illegal for them to say know.
Some do try, but it's most definitely not legal.

Afternoon Everyone, whilst down the pub last night, i was chatting to a friend,
a guide dog user, who told me that here in London Muslim bus & taxi drivers
are now in titled to refuse blind people with guide dogs onto their
vehicles,now i don't know what the buses & taxis are like where you live, but
there's no way you can tell what religion the driver of the 8.15 from Finsbury
Park is going to be, are you really expected to wait for the next one & hope
their C of E? & what will they say when you order a cab & ask for a non Muslim
driver? Getting about is hard enough without people making it more difficult.
