Tips from my Grandmother.

It is surprising what tomato sauce or an old soggy teabag can do.

Some of the following we can do, some we cannot do, but are good to forward on
to family members, friends or carers.

--------------------

If someone says your carpet, rug, fabric settee or arm chairs have a stain,
then the following will remove it for you.

If you are unable to do the following, just show the tips to your carers,
family members or friends, you never know they may do it for you.

You know those bottles with a gun nozzle sprayer on top, like Windolene or Mr
Muscle etc.
When the bottles are empty, wash them out and keep them, as they are very handy.

You need a clean linen cloth, like a white linen serviette or old tea cloth or
rip up an old linen sheet etc.
Fill one empty bottle with half a bottle of Scweppes Soda Water.

Spray a little soda water onto the stain until damp and rub gently with the
cloth.
Continue to spray a little more and gently rub the stain.
Continue until the stain has disappeared.

If stain is on the carpet and you cannot get down to the floor. Spray the soda
water onto the stain.
Place a clean white linen cloth on top of the stain.
Jump up and down on the cloth.
Repeat until stain has gone.
If you cannot jump, then bash your stick or broom up and down on the cloth.
Repeat until stain has gone.

-------------------------

You can spray a little soda water onto a clean cloth and wipe the inside of
your refridgerator / freezer to clean and freshen.

----------------------------

Half fill another spray bottle with tap water and put a few drops of Eau De
Cologne or perfume from Health shop or Boots Chemist.
You now have your own Air Freshener.
You can make your own aromas from fresh mint or flower petals.

--------------------------

Rubbing a little tomato sauce with a cloth is good for cleaning silver and
brass etc.

-------------------

The tea leaves from an old soggy teabag should be placed on top of the soil of
a plant.

-------------------

After finishing with the two halves of a lemon, put your elbows in each half.

-------------

Lemons are a natural bleach.

------------------

Put a flea collar in your vacuum cleaner bag, this kills dust mites.

------------------

Keep your windows closed on hot sunny days, this keeps you cooler.
Curtains closed too for extra cool.
The proof is that the sun bleaches the colour away from curtains and windows
are as if in a greenhouse.

------------------

Dab a little vaseline up your nose to stop hayfever.
This stops the pollen air you breathe.

----------------

Onions are good for colds and hayfever.
