I went for my first guide dog in 1985  trained at Bolton guide dogs. Stayed 
there for four weeks. 

He was a big 84 pounds in weight. He was a Labrador cross retriever. He died at 
early age of seven through illness. Then I had Toffee. same breed. Very bouncy 
dog and won 'ting to play all the time. So he had to go back. Then I went back 
to Bolton for my third dog. This time I got Sid. A very butiful long haired 
Golden Retriever. The hair on his tail was 18 inches long. I got him in 1994 
and he died in 2000. Again with a serious illness that that breed  get. He had 
to be put to sleep at the age of 8 years. Both deaths were very hard to get 
over because these dogs give you there all with no conditions attached. I was 
very unlucky to loose them so early. Guide dogs usual live till their  about 12 
or so years.

If people on this group are interested I have many doggy stories to tell.

Carol, I was totally blind and was on my own, it was only the quick thinking of 
my guide dog Edwin pulling me out of there. That was because the man was 
wearing a stocking oofer his face. But   I'm glad you backed me up because 
after I sent it I thought people might think I was exaggerating.
