Wow, Vanessa!
You sound really excited about your new doors. I'm very happy for you; the
sense of freedom they must give you will be brilliant. I know the upheaval
you've gone through to get them fitted must have been pure murder, but you're
bound to feel it's been worth it now.
Yes, you can't beat real sunshine, or snow, or even rain for that matter.
Nothing man-made comes even close. As for fresh air, though?
Well, as I posted on Wednesday, the local farmers are spraying slurry on their
fields...the aroma of fermented cow and pig muck is, shall we say, distinctive?
At least there was no real wind yesterday.
Today, though, the breeze is blowing straight toward my house, and even with
the windows and doors closed, the smell is everywhere!
At least it'll be gone by tomorrow.
Dung flavoured toast isn't my favourite starter!

yesterday they started on my new french doors, they were in my lounge, I stayed
in my bedroom, which has my computer and all I need, they drilled the concrete
to make a trench to bury the central heating pipes, the walls, floors and
ceiling echoed with drilling, banging, sawing, you name the noise, I heard it,
I was talking to malcolm on skype as i was nervous and scared with the amount
of men here, when my skype went off, tried to telephone malcolm, but the phone
was off too, went to put my talking book on, that was off too, no television
either, no nothing, could not do nothing whatsoever, i put sticks and things
against my closed door, as the workmen had the keys to my doors, so had
restless sleep.
today they turned the water off, as they moved the radiator that was under the
window and took the window out and wall below it, they started work seven
something this morning, tesco came eight this morning and could not put the
frozen in the freezer as the workmen had the furniture stacked up in kitchen,
eventually they moved the furniture to get the food in the freezer, next came
the carer, she brought in my bedroom some food as it was impossible and
dangerous for me to go out there, anyways they left tea time, they taught me to
do the doors, i felt them, lovely bubbly, i have key in my left pocket for the
left door and key in my pocket for right door, they have made a concrete ramp
outside the two doors, when the door opened, i said wow to the workmen as the
breeze blew on me, oh my, not been able to do this for years, being independant
to just open my door and feel the real fresh air blow in was magical, i was on
skype earlier with carol and i told her when i want to feel the air blowing i
had to put my hair dryer on, when i wanted to feel sunshine warmth i put my
central heating on, when i wanted to feel the winter snow i went and felt the
ice in the freezer, when i wanted to feel the rain i went in the shower, now i
can feel all these things for real just by opening my new french doors, plus
the carers won't have to struggle with the wheelchair in the corridors, that is
brilliant.
the bad news is the only stupid thing they did was wire up the broken intercom
to my new doors, for those who do not know, the intercom was faulty when they
made this building, me and carer been stuck outside a few times where door
would not open, if my bell goes i let them in and they been children or
strangers or someone forgot their key, so i was told not to let them in, so i
stopped then i get told off because the hospital or chemist or carer or someone
cannot get in of importance and i have been fighting for london cab type taxis
to take me and hundreds of others and parents with pushchairs and prams,
they've had meetings, i contacted welsh assembly, m ps, parliament, councillors
etcetera, so part one done, my new doors, i can feel the weather, but i will
only open one door when on my own and have my lifeline in my hand to press in
emergency, and will open two doors when someone is here, got to still fight for
intercom and taxis and a one handed tin opener, i want to open a tin when i
feel like eating something, not nice asking carer to open tin of something when
you may not feel like it at tea time or forgetting its there.
going to shops tomorrow to buy long curtains for my new doors and nets,
straight out through the new doors, how kewl to be there with door open for
carer in morning, she will be shocked, might have to press lifeline as she may
have heart attack to find me at new doors waiting for her.
