Hi, David,
I'm relatively new to this chat room, and I thought I'd introduce myself.
So you work with the cadets? Interesting; I was a Boys' Brigade Officer for
twenty-five years, until we had to close the Company due to lack of staff to
meet the latest regulations from Holyrood.
I'm glad to see you working with youth - I wish I was, also, though I hear on
the grapevine that a Company in a nearby town is looking for an Officer to take
the Christian Faith brief. I'd be interested, but the thought of wasting time
going through the re-training regime to get the requisite certification -
especially as those doing the training were trained by me in the first place -
fills me with a feeling of resignation.
Anyway, good to see you posting, and hope to catch up with you in the future
Jim.

Oh I've been around and about. I have been staying busy with work and
Civil Air Patrol. CAP is a volunteer organization that responds to
emergency situations such as missing aircraft, hurricanes, tornadoes,
floods, etc. We have three main missions, ES or emergency Services,
Aerospace education, and cadet ptograms for youth aged 12 - 21. We
teach leadership, emergency services skills, map reading, radio
communications, etc. I mainly work with cadet programs and
communicatios. I teach character development and I am working on
obtaining my rating in commubications. We meet once a week but I work
diligently to be prepared if I am teaching and to push my skills
farther when I am not. I am thinking of taking a mountain survival
course, so I can subsequently teach it at our local unit andtske the
unit on a mountain expedition. Other than that I have had a hernia
repaired last quarter of 2011, thats all better now. I am also
getting out once a week with a friend from church, and teach Sunday
school on a rotating basis.

In His Love and Service
David Bailey
