Subject: Boating Under The Influence Enforcement
On Saturday, June 19, the Hampton Police Division will conduct a marine
safety enforcement operation. These officers will identify and process
intoxicated boat operators who come to their attention through routine
observation, enforcement activities, and Boating Under the Influence
(BUI) checkpoints.
A person convicted of operating a water vessel under the influence of
alcohol faces the same penalties as driving a vehicle under the
influence of alcohol.
This effort is intended to provide for a safe and pleasant experience
while enjoying the waterways of Hampton.
