I'm not Chris, but what I've done ids go in to the program and do the space i to check my mode and get in to gps if not there and start checking satellites or go in to gps options and i thik the revceiver option will tell you if you are in virtual or not. I can tell bythe quality and watch the satellite and hdop and vdop numbers fr changes, and i check on streets and info it gives me t make sure it is changing and sounds right. like you, i get the hollux going first then the gps and it usually says acquiring satellites too when i first turn it on. Chris, how can we tell if the receiver and the BrailleNote have found each other if we're not already in the GPS program? I've always turned on the receiver and then turned on the BrailleNote and entered GPS right away. If I get the message that the receiver isn't detected, I do a C or backspace with R, and look for the message that it's been detected. I would press T or BACCKSPACE with dots 2-3. The above is a one handed command for the Braille keyboards. Other people may have suggestions as there's more then one way to use the system. As far as your connecting, yes it is a good idea to wait up to 20/30 seconds before launching the GPS. 1. turn on the GPS receiver. 2. turn on the BrailleNote let them find each other. 3. wait 20/30 seconds and enter GPS. I wanted a career in Computer programming but failed to get the qualifications because of serious bullying but I sometimes wonder if I should go for a job as a taxi driver instead despite being Totally Blind as it is a bit of a joke as to what qualifications are needed to become one in Huddersfield. It is not like my journeys often take me outside the Huddersfield area now that I am no longer at boarding School or College so I am not travelling to Worcester or Hereford like I used to do. I live something like quarter of an hour from Huddersfield bus station yet when my partially Sighted friend who I am hoping to have a relationship with dropped me at the taxi rank nearby, I still had to guide the driver.
