I recommend the HTC S743. It is a candy bar style phone and I have had mine sense April. The phone has 256MB RAM, 256MB ROM and a 528MHZ Qualcomm processor. The battery life is excellent and the phone also has an easy to feel number pad and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Because of the size and shape of the HTC S743, it is easy to operate Mobile Geo with one hand while walking. Other phones that only have a QWERTY keyboard on the front would be quite a bit harder to operate one-handed. You can buy the phone, software, memory card etc. separately which is what I did or you can buy them in a bundle from handytech.us http://handytech.us/new.html#mobile_geo_bundle. The advantage to buying the equipment through HandyTech is that they have a payment plan, and they will install the software and maps on the phone before sending it to you. The HTC S743 has an internal GPS receiver but I can't recommend using it. The reception of internal receivers is terrible, if you are able to get a fix at all. Internal receivers also drain the battery very quickley. You will want to get an external bluetooth receiver. I recommend the I-blue i737 A+ GPS receiver which has an MTK2 chipset. Using the I-blue receiver, I get WAAS quality with 12/13 feet accuracy even on cloudy, rainy Oregon days like today. I also got 16 feet or so WAAS quality while I was camping in the woods of West Virginia, surrounded by mountains. You can buy the I-blue I737 A+ from senderogroup.com or from buygpsnow.com. It does not come in the bundle sold by HandyTech as far as I know.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] Mobile geo phones

How do you go about choosing a good windows mobile based phone which will
run Mobile Geo? What are the faster phones out there, and what tips can you give me for choosing a good phone? I have a Pantec Duo and it boots up super
slowly. I don't have mobile geo yet, but I'm looking at that gps solution.

Much thanks,

Andre
