Ah, a man after my own heart, I'd love to meet your hubbie some day! Glad you got the receiver. You're gonna love it! Jim

Subject: [gps-talkusers] I got the receiver!

Hey, all, I got the M-1000 today. It was here waiting for me when I came home from work. I'm still reading through the directions, and decided to charge it before pairing and all that stuff, so I haven't had been able to test it yet. My goofy husband decided to play a practical joke on me when he first told me it had come. He handed me a box and said, "Here it is." I started reading the Getting Started guide, and was totally puzzled, as all I could feel was a big clunky hard thing, no soft case, and no adapters. Dan said, "Let me look." He said, "It's a light probe! Why did they send you a light probe?" He turned it on and started playing with it. I thought it sounded kind of like an old light probe I have, but never dreamed my dear sweet husband would tease me on such a momentous occasion. <grin> I was just thinking I'd head to the phone and leave a message for Sendero, when he handed me the real deal. <lol> He'd already put it in the soft case, so I had to take it out to learn what it looked like. Then I couldn't get it back in, but he put it back in for me. Are there any tricks to getting it back in, in the unlikely event that I have to take it out? So now I'm going to let it charge for a while, then see if I can pair it and get a fix. I already have it mounted on my shoulder strap, hopefully securely. At least with the Earthmate, I knew the whole case would have to fall apart for me to lose the receiver! <grin> It'll take some experience with a wireless receiver, but I think I'll like not having to mess around with cables and stuff. And I like the fact that I can turn it on and off while it's on my shoulder. With the Earthmate, I had to open the accessory pouch to get to the switch, and remember to zip it back up before standing up and getting ready to move.

So those are my experiences so far. Now I'll try to be calm and read mail while the receiver charges, and then the fun will begin.

Peggy
