Jim,
I did a report last January about the Garmin Nuvi with voice
recognition. It cannot be operated 100% independently by a blind person.
The more general issue is that of voice recognition in noisy
environments. It may work fine in a car but not so well on the street.
Then there is the privacy issue of announcing to everyone within
earshot about what you are looking up and where you are going. Voice
recognition seems great in a private quiet situation but not so great
in public.
