HiI'm 48 and has been blind about half of that time. i think people who have lost their sight later at their lives will recognize clocface directions quite well.
I have never used braille watch myself. -- mr. M01510 & guide Loadstone-GPS Lat: 62.38718, lon: 25.64672 hkp://wwwkeys.pgp.net B784D020 0C1F 6A76 DC9D DD58 3383 8B5D 0E76 9600 B784 D02 Dale Leavens kirjoitti

One or two do have Tissot Silen-T watches but I can't remember the last time I saw anyone use a braille watch.I am not arguing the value of clock face orientation, just doubting it's utility in the under 20s and of course that progression through the years.Dale Leavens. ----- Original Message ----- From: <margopup35@xxxxxxxxx> To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 08, 2013 11:41 PMSubject: [gps-talkusers] Re: Clock face orientation: [WAS] Re: Re: suggestion for the seeing eye appI think your wrong about people not using the clock to help them orientate themselves or on any other thing they might use it. I use and it is very simple to me.----- Original Message ----- From: "Dale Leavens" <dleavens@xxxxxxx> To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 08, 2013 9:22 PMSubject: [gps-talkusers] Clock face orientation: [WAS] Re: Re: suggestion for the seeing eye appFeel free to disagree however in this digital age the ordinal clock face positions are losing functionality. Apart from braille watches and clocks, and those are becoming rare, what possible other use would a person have for ordinal analog style clock knowledge? Blind people largely prefer talking time. There is no positional reference there.Dale Leavens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Barry" <krbarry@xxxxxxxxx> To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 08, 2013 8:36 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: suggestion for the seeing eye appI disagree. A clock face is a standard that anyone can, and should understand.Next you'll be saying people won't need to know their left from their right. Which, sadly, is true in too many cases. At 08:23 PM 7/8/2013, you wrote:Interesting, I hadn't thought of it before now but with fewer people using Braille, braille watches and clocks and only hearing talking time, ordinal clock positions will increasingly become redundant, probably more so for the blind who don't get the visual reinforcement of all the installed base of church and tower and other public analog clocks.New methods of description of food placement on dishes for those who prefer knowing that sort of thing will also need to be developed and taught to the general population.Who'd a thunk it? Provide an option for indicating intersection locations by saying ahead or left or right, I have never really found the clock descriptions in a GPS program useful.
