Hi Kevin,

Great, thanks for that. If they do update them once a year, then they aren't to far behind, which is pretty impressive considering they are converting the maps to make them more blind friendly.

Hopefully by the time Code Factory releases their version, there will be a new map update as the freeways have undergone some major changes near where I live, which didn't make the Navteq maps until the middel of 2007.

Cheers,
Brett.

Brett,

The current Australian maps are from the 4th quarter of 2006, which would
make them just a little over a year old. Sendero Group does convert them
into their own special format that will strip out all unnecessary mapping
information such as the visual elements and convert that information into
something that is useful to a blind person. It is much more involved but the
just of it is that Sendero does use their own format after converting the
map data. The mapping data is generally updated once per year.

Kevin

Hi Chris,

They are the same ones used by the Nokia maps then. These are quite good
quality in deed. do you know what year the australian maps that are used by Sendero are from? How often do these get updated. Does Sendero convert these
to their own propriatory format, or can you just purchase new maps from
NavTeq and use them if there is a later update?

Many thanks for your responce. Hopefully Code Factory gets this out quite
quickly as my credit card is already out and waiting, Smile.

Cheers,
Brett.

Hi all,

just out of interest, whose maps does Sendero use, particularly for
Australia? There are a few vendors doing maps of Australia and some are
definitely better than others, so just trying to ascertain the quality of
the maps that Sendero uses so I can get an idea of what I am willing to
pay
when CF comes to the party.

Cheers,
Brett.

I have four maps loaded.

It happens when walking and a new POI or junction is about to be
displayed.

It could be a momentary loss of fix but if this is the case it recovers
very
quickly. It could also be due to satalite single bounce as it happens in
built up areas - I haven't had a chance to test in a more rural setting
yet.

Hi,
does this happen when entering the program, when you lose your fix
then get it back?
how many maps are you loading at one time?

Hi list

I have recently upgraded to the Holux M1000 and have noticed a few
things.

Firstly the accuracy is generally much better I usually seem to get
eight
satalites instead of six. The positioning of user POIs is much more
accurate.

One thing I have noticed that I did not notice before switches is that
quite often the braille display on my nPower starts to show the
searching
sequence - that is the number 1 often appears for a few seconds before
the
position is shown. Is this normal?
