How about starting a corwdfunding campaign
Two reasons for this
1. Some amount of money comes in
2. More importantly there will be some amount of publicity
Many of us Linux Users are on Linux forums and lists and also have friends
and colleagues who would maybe try gnukhata if they knew about it.
Am not aware of all the modalities of crowd sourcing but each block of
donors (falling within a range of amounts) could be given some token gift -
like the free cd/ dvd / pen drives. T shirts (gnukhata / FOSS ones) etc.
Maybe those on this list conversant with crowd funding could advice

The reason behind we selling DVD or Pen drives is not to earn money like
proprietary licences, but to raise funds for sustained development of
GNUKhata.
Afterall free is freedom not free of cost.
