GHE Art & Literature Fair
When: Wednesday, March 1 – Tuesday, April 25
Where: Hemphill Library, 2301 W. Vandalia Rd., Greensboro
Are you out of room on your refrigerator to display your children's artwork?
Are the notebooks overflowing with short stories and essays? Then start a pile
for submissions to the GHE Art & Literature Fair!
We will take submissions at Hemphill Thursday, February 23 - Monday, February
27 at noon.
All art and literature pieces will be displayed from the beginning of March -
Tuesday, April 25.
A reception will be held at Hemphill on Tuesday, April 25 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
to present awards for the winning entries. The follow categories will be judged:
Artwork:
2-D: Must be mounted on poster board, construction paper, canvas or canvas
board (frames not preferred). If on canvas board, attach string for hanging.
3-D: Sculptures, Pottery, Needlework, etc.
Literature: Poetry, Short stories, Essays, Cartooning, Children's Picture books
** If literature entries are short (1-6 pages), may mount each page on
construction paper.
Entries will be grouped into the following age brackets:
Preschool - Age 7 (not judged - all participants in this age group will receive
a prize)
Ages 8-10
Ages 11-13
Ages 14-18
Each student may enter up to two pieces of artwork and two literary pieces. All
entries MUST be the student's ORIGINAL work (no kits or patterns not created by
the student). A maximum of 4 items submitted per child.
