Babette, I also appreciate your availability and all your hard work to make this happen. I think less frequent meetings might work. And, I always appreciate your willingness to answer questions online. Babette, Sorry to read about the attendance. As I believe I already emailed; I was out of town and unable to attend. I'm not happy with the later scheduling (middle of the day) of the class; I would have preferred an earlier morning or an evening class, but understand the limitations of First Presbyterian. Yes, a bi-monthly or quarterly meeting is probably adequate, and I support your suggestion of mimicking John King's rotating presentations at the general meetings. Regardless, I am appreciative of your ongoing availability via this forum. That is very helpful. Thank you! Tuesday, only two people came to the Quicken SIG meeting. We've had dwindling attendance off and on in the past, but usually it doesn't happen in the Fall, when we resume after a summer break. However, this SIG has been in existence for many years, and we have to at least consider the fact that it may have reached its "pull date'. GGCS now pays First Presbyterian Church for room rental, based on the actual hours we use there. In addition to that is the fact that a small turnout may not warrant the effort and expense. It's noteworthy that new SIGs that are getting started (Tablets&Smart Phones, Google Services), and the newish Windows 8 SIG are eliciting a lot of interest and good attendance. Perhaps needs have changed, and SIGs should be shorter duration, with new ones created as technology speeds us into new devices and programs (apps). In any event, we need your input about the future of the Quicken SIG. 1. Did some of you get lost trying to find the new classroom? 2. Should we consider having the Quicken SIG meet every other month or quarterly, with the first hour being a real class on a major aspect of Quicken, and rotating the class subject, as John King does with his monthly class before the General Meeting? e.g., Basics of Quicken use (Registers, Downloading Transactions, Reconciliation); Reports, Investments, Customizing Quicken and using its optional settings). 3. If we try less frequent meetings, this SIG List can continue, so that you will always have access to help from Russ and me, and all the others on the list. Even if the SIG actually closes down, I am willing to keep this list going. 4. We also can keep the SIG going if you and we can find a way to entice more people to attend. My primary interest is to determine whether or not we are meeting the group's needs re Quicken, and/or if there still ARE needs for the SIG. Thanks for your interest all these years, and for your input now. To be clear, I plan to hold the regular Quicken SIG meeting in October, and will not close it down without plenty of notice to all.
