Walter Olson put together a great slide show for us, illustrating how the new Quicken Mobile feature (sort of) works. As Walter pointed out, this is probably v. 0.01 and is still a work in progress. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the slides. Essentially, the mobile feature allows Quicken desktop users to place their MONEY accounts in the Quicken cloud and access them from mobile devices, such as smart phones, iPads, etc. At present they accommodate ONLY banking accounts, not Investment accounts, which Walter finds inconvenient. Also, the screens do not reflect the program's terminology in all cases, and you have to dig down through several screens to get some details. We speculated that perhaps this is a derivative of the Mint on-line program. Unless you absolutely have to upgrade your Quicken program this April (i.e., you're using Quicken 2010, which will not be supported for downloads after April), or are fanatic about having a mobile application for Quicken regardless of it's current functionality, there's not much reason to get Q2013, If you're using Q2012, there's VERY little difference between it and Q 2013, other than the new mobile feature. We didn't spend as much time as expected on Tax Planning, but will continue with it and Tax related Reports next month. We'd also like a LOT more input from you about aspects of Quicken you'd like us to feature at meetings. Have a good month, and don't forget to come to our General Meeting on the 28th, which will feature all things Google, plus some Google related books for Raffle prizes.
