I don't know where you take your informations, but according to the "official" news that I read (in french), the Hamas fire -at most- only a few dozens rockets every day; and the casualties among Israelites are only four: and three of these four were killed by friends and the fourth could also have been killed by friends.  In other words, the Israelis soldiers have shot some of their own soldiers.  The casualties among palestinians include 150 children and 3 schools under UN pavillions were bombarded.

Pertes israéliennes

Israël subit pour sa part ses premières pertes militaires: quatre soldats sont morts au cours des dernières heures dans le nord de la bande de Gaza. Au moins trois d'entre eux ont été victimes d'un tir ami et une enquête est en cours pour déterminer si c'est également le cas du quatrième.

here is my translation: Israel has endured its first military losses: four soldiers were killed in the last hours in the north of the Gaza band.  At least three of them were victims of allied/friend fire and an inquiry is trying to determine if it was also the case for the fourth.

I read that of the 6800 rockets fired, 15 Israelis have been killed.
