May 21, 2005, OK I know the same day as the SLAGA Picnic. As I said before in a previous post, I live in a pretty Isolated area, halfway between Belleville IL and Carbondale IL. I have found another Geocaching Group called River Valley Geocachers out of Paducah KY. I went to thier CITO Event and it is a good group of people. I told them about the area I live in and many of them are ionterested in my area. We are Planning on a Group Meeting / gettogether around Kinkaid Lake. Since this is Clsoe enough to SLAGA territorry, I think some of y'all might be interested in meeting a different group, a really great group of people. Anyway they have meetings 3rd Saturday of each month, and they discussed comming up my way. So I feel honored to be hosting them even if it is the same day as SLAGA Picnic. Activities would be Geocaching (Yes there are a few Caches here in Southern IL), Kayaking on Kinkaid Lake, and Cave Exploring... Yes I know my way THROUGH the AVA CAVE, which is on USDA property, though it is not Cacheable because it is a Designated Natural Area, but is open to the Public. I think that is the main thing that sparked interest in that group is an actual wild cave, that I can guide everyone through (about a mile through Entrance and a different Exit). People will be coming from Paducah KY, which is just a little farther away then STL from me, so Since it is similar distance I am making a pre-announcement. Anyone interested please email me or reply to this. I know most people will be at the SLAGA Picnic, but if there is anyone who wants a break form the Big Group stuff and would like to meet a more smaller and personal group then hop on down my way.
