I guess my sad story didn't play very well...Garmin wants $125 to fix it and
a new Vista can be had for $160 or so.
After doing a Google search I found some instructions for self
repair...after I figure out which unit I would like (can afford) if my
repair job fails, I will attempt to fix it myself.
