My take on the geocoin craze is this:
First, my mine measurement of craziness is how many ebay hits to I get when I
type in geocoin. It used to be in the 500's usually, sometimes dropping into
the 400s. This morning I got 800s but it has since dropped into the high 700s.
By this measure, it is still crazy out there.
2nd, there are a lot of coins out there. I think that personal coins in
particular need to be eye caching or they won't sell well. Group coins (such
as SLAGA) and state coins have a built in audience and the ability to sell out
is that much greater.
If the group is doubtful now, you will be doubtful later. Perhaps if you tried
to gauge how many coins you could "presell", it would help give you an idea of
how many need to sell once they become available. I, for one, would be willing
to say now that I'll buy at least one and probably more.
