Hi Everyone, Patti, it's really good to read of your experience with the Integration Program. I had decided, even before reading your email, that this was the right year for me to take part in one of these programs and I actually enrolled last week for the next one starting on 20th May. Although I have a lot of encouragement on the home front, I certainly need reinforcement on the diet side. (In fact, were I to be absolutely honest, I need it on all sides.) Your beetroot sounds delicious. When I was in St. Vincent's oncology section last Thursday, there was a lady, Jenny, who had been to the last Gawler Retreat and she couldn't speak highly enough of it. It's still good to hear it praised up. At the time, she didn't know I'd been last year. She, too, has enrolled for the same Integration Program. It was also interesting to hear that she has an infusion every 5 weeks to strengthen her bones so that they heal 'smoothly'. That is my word for what she said as I can't remember the term she used. Thanks, and happy eating, Lorraine. ----- Original Message ----- From: Patti Idolo To: gawlerites@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, April 02, 2010 6:11 PM Subject: [gawlerites] Re: Easter greetings Hi Everyone, Thanks Bruce for reminding us.......... I wanted to share with you my experience with the Gawler Foundation Integration Program which I attended last year. It was good to go over all the mental, physical and spiritual elements that we were presented with in our 10 day program. It was also a good chance to meet others and get tips etc, I enjoyed the 8 weeks very much as it reinforced the diet/meditation/food and answered any questions I may have had. The program commences 20th May and 2nd Sept 2010 in Hawthorn, you may have received the leaflet in the mail a few months ago. Also to let you know that the meditation and support group is ongoing at the University of Melbourne Hawthown campus. Meditation weekly 1pm to 2pm, support group fortnightly 2:30pm to 4:30pm, next one on on 13th April. I managed to cook up some fresh beetroot. If large boil whole (skin on)for approx. 1 hr. Let cool. Peel with hands, comes off easy. Slice and dress with olive oil and a little vinegar (I used apple cider). This keeps in the fridge for a few days and delicious in salads, sandwiches or on it's own. Don't forget to wash the leaves and steam for soups, or to accompany as a cooked vegetable with a drizzle of olive oil. It's also worthwhile to keep in the fridge grated carrot and beetroot to go in salads, sandwiches or in my brown rice balls (Dorothy's recipe modified), Happy holidays, Patti On Fri, Apr 2, 2010 at 6:49 PM, bja <moo-man@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi everyone, The list has gone quiet of late so this is just to touch base with you all and to wish you the very best for Easter. I know many on the list have difficulty with these key times of the year because of their personal battles with their health or because of the loss of a loved one, so please remember that the list is here and all the list members I know are only too happy to have a chat, lend an ear, a shoulder or even a bed, and if you choose the right time, you can probably even get a free coffee out of some. Please keep the recipes, event notifications, health tips etc coming. It really does help to stay connected, particularly with those who truly understand what you are going through and who don't prejudge. So hang in there guys and make the most out of the long weekend. May you all find some light, some peace and love, or some good fishing (or all of the aforementioned). Love and best wishes, Bruce -- Kind Regards, Patti Idolo 0413 420 675
