Hi to all FSF60000,Inc. Tomorrow night, Saturday, Nov. 3, Dick and I will be
chaperoning the students on their annual SHANTY, or Shelter the Homeless and
the Needy This Year fund raiser. It is an overnight homeless simulation
where students sleep out on school ground in a cardboard box, generally
freeze or suffer some other sort of lousy conditions, learn from guest
speakers, eat a simple no frills meal that might be served at a homeless
shelter, and go home very tired. The fund raiser part comes with the pledges
they raise. Each participant is expected to get at least $75 in pledge
money. Some surpass that. This event has raised from $500 in its beginning
days in 1995, to $15000 in more recent years. WE expect a good turnout,
maybe 150 students and lots of pledges. If you would like to stop by
anywhere from 6pm on til about 11, we'll be up. See the kids, hear athe
speakers, see Dick and me (both in our 60's) trying to make sense of why we
are still doing this sort of thing. Yes, we're boxing it too. Hope some of
you can stop by and see what's up with the kids and hear our speaker, who
recently returned from Nica. Pete White
