I assume you are using the ASIO drivers... what do you have the buffer
size set to in the M-Audio control panel? If you have this set very
low, you will get better latency, but you won't be able to use so many
synths and effects before things start breaking up.
The trick is to try and find the best compromise between good latency
and acceptable performance.
