Greetings Fellow Toastmasters,
Toastmaster of the evening was the amazing Luis Estrada. Theme was
Opportunities. There were 11 members in attendance and one guest; Alex.
Highlights of the evening.
1. There three very good speakers in Jonathan Kolber, Kathleen Jewby, and
Ray Pezolt. All very good speeches but the winner was Kathleen Jewby with
her Rabbit ears and listening skills.
2. Break with Ice Cream by Luis Estrada. No matter how difficult of a day
anyone has. Ice Cream makes it all better.
3. Table Topics by Bill Farrand with interesting questions. Jeff Stoll. 40th
wedding anniversary and you forgot. Alex was our guest and he also
participated in table topics. Extra points for being over dressed in a
Velvet Blazer. One is never over educated and one is never over dressed.
(next time I'm showing up in a tuxedo). And me with the question, what do
you do when someone comes up to you and they obviously know you but you
don't know them.
4. Best Evaluator was Colette Smith, evaluating Jonathan Kolber.
Excellent sandwich technique with her evaluation. Robin also gave an
excellent evaluation on Kathleen Jewby's saying it was by far her best
speech ever. I evaluated Ray's speech, Flight plan on success. Great
speech, great slides. Take off full throttle.
5. Ribbon winners were Colette Smith for best Evaluator. Kathleen Jewby
for best Speaker. And myself for best Table Topics.
Congratulations to all the ribbon winners. I've been away for the past
three weeks which is unusual. And being away I've had time to reflect on
toastmasters. It's a commitment to have to be there every week but it's
worth it. It's an opportunity to grow and an opportunity to support
others. Being that opportunity was the theme of the evening, another word
for opportunity is "choice". Long ago, it was Luis that mentioned -
Tonight I could be anywhere else and I choose to be at Toastmasters.
