Greetings Fellow Toastmasters
Our wonderful toastmaster for the evening was Revathy Sukumaran. We
inducted Thomas Roerick to
our club. Not to sound too bias but we are the best toastmaster club.
Welcome Thomas. The word of
the day was LUCID. Jeff Stoll provided a wonderful inspiration story on
nails in the fence.
Speaker #1 was Robin McIntosh.
Team building speech part II. One of the problems having a team was that
some team members did not
show up. Team Leader. How to follow? Start from the bottom and work up.
Inspiration – need to be a
team follower. This was a follow up to the first speech in celebrating
Jennifer Dunne getting her DTM.
Did we succeed? YES. It takes a team.
Kathleen Jewby was our amazing Table Topics Master. Some notable questions
and answers
1. Minjun Zhao. If you were there on the scene, what would be the greatest
invention you witnessed?
A: Convert solar energy to global warming. Aliens manipulate gravity to
travel through space. (I think
Minjun misunderstood the question and still answered with a marvelous
collection of words that made
me smile).
2. Thomas Roerick. If you had the power of flight, what is the first thing
you would do? A: To
communicate better. Explore the world. To be more cohesive to appreciate
and enjoy. (Sorry Thomas,
I know you just joined but HUH?)
3. Dirk Kittredge. If you were director and producer, what story do you
tell? A: Uggwhump caveman
grunts. Honey changed everything. Come up with crap that makes no sense.
4. Ray Pezolt. If you had a portal in your living room and you can go to
one place, where in the world
would this place be? A: Beach.
5. Jennifer Dunne. If you were to wake up with a new skill, personality
trait, what would it be? A:
Sleep a few hours and be fully awake.
Evaluator #1. Alan Wong evaluating Robin McIntosh. Good cadence and volume.
Excellent flow to the
speech. Comfortable voice and looked into the camera. Would like to know
more behind the scenes on
getting the team together. How did you come to choose your team? Did they
volunteer or were they
handpicked? What made the project so fun? Should have recapped the first
speech and remind us it
was about Jennifer Dunne in the introduction. I thought it was a great
topic because it was
acknowledging Jennifer Dunne. It was an awesome speech and it was organized
and well delivered.
Jonathan was Ah Counter. I came from behind and was the best of the worse.
I had Ah’s and double
clutches and pauses. To my defense, I have none. I just sucked. Kind of
reminds me of the time I gave a
speech on happiness and Dirk was my evaluator and he told me I delivered my
happy speech looking
tired and sad. Reminder to all, come prepared because someone like Jonathan
is an expert at
deciphering madness. Thank you Jonathan for the wakeup call.
Revathy unveiled our website and it’s OUTSTANDING. If you have not had the
time to visit the website, I
encourage everyone to do so. Thank you for the effort and the time you put
into it. If I ever need a
website, I’ll know who to call.

A big high ten to Kathleen Jewby. (High fives are for good job). High Ten’s
are extra goodness. Her
questions were thought provoking. I loved the questions. They were not the
simple ones like what’s
your favorite movie or what’s your favorite color. Her questions were on
personality traits, time travel
portals, what if questions. I thought they were OUTSTANDING. (you have say
it with a slight pause
between OUT and STANDING). It has a better effect.
It was another wonderful meeting. Kudos to everyone for participating and
making this club the best
club ever. Quote from the web on participation: Sorry I took my pants off
at your gender reveal party. I
thought we were all participating. My bad.
