For newer members, more diligent past Secretaries of the club would send out a
“You should have been there” email after every meeting. I have been entirely
negligent in that regard, but since last night was such a singular meeting, I
was moved to put one out. It was a low attendance meeting (just six in person
and two on-line, but it was most remarkable in that for I think the first time
in all the years that I have been coming to Front Range Toastmasters this was
the first one in which not one member of the weaker sex was in attendance (come
on, you know I couldn’t resist using that anachronistic term… is “fairer sex”
any better???), that’s right, just guys there last night. I won’t go into
details about some of the discussions because the dictum holds that “what
happens in the meeting, stays in the meeting”.
Luis did a great job as Toastmaster and though we just had one speaker, Luis
had some discussion points and an informal theme emerged about ways to avoid
stress. We all agreed that the meeting was less stressful without any women
around (again, I kid, I kid).
Jeff was our one speaker with a very humorous and yet revealing speech. He
would have been the Best Speaker, but he regrettably (but perhaps predictably)
went over time.
Your humble scribe was Table Topics Master and I had some hard hitting, but
hopefully humorous questions and folks did great. George was voted as Best
Table Topics.
Robin was the sole Evaluator and he managed to stay on time so he won the Best
Evaluator award.
So that was the night in a nutshell… see you all at an upcoming meeting (and to
the women in the club, please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me when you see me
again!).
Your most humble Club Secretary, Bill
