is here but alas it has been a disappointment for some.
Where is the cold weather? Where is the snow? Some of you might be
celebrating with jubilation because of the unseasonably warm winter but this
Canadian-American is jonsing for some SNOW!
Though it's not exactly winter outside, thankfully it was warm inside so that
we were all comfortable as the new FRTM Officers were inducted and the winter
themed party commenced.
Thank you John Lind , Area Director for attending and inducting the new team!
Your feedback and willingness to jump right in is amazing.
Our leading snow bunnies were standouts!
Who knew Richa was afraid of Cold Calling? She faced her fears and learned
along with us as she explained what Cold Calling is and how to do it well.
Susie's humorous speech had us laughing in our toques and scarves. If you have
a crazy job here is her recommendation. "RUN if you hear a Clydesdale coming!"
Way to go ladies! The winner of the blue ribbon this week went to Richa ~
congratulations.
Table Topics by Dirk Kittredge is always a jubilant delight! Skiing, Curling,
Sledding, Ice Storms, Winter Camping, Snuggling up in front of a fire while
snowflakes are falling outside .... all the things that winter brings.
The challenge? To tell your favorite winter story ~ extra points for using the
word of the day.
My top three?
1. We have a member who dreamed of being an Olympic Ice Skater as she
twirled and zipped around on the frozen pond right outside her back door. I
can see little Lori avoiding the bumps on the frozen lake and ice fishing holes
as she followed her dream.
2. No one will ever forget Jason Marine's stories on winter shenanigans
as he and his friends tried to one-up each other. Let's just say that we are
lucky Jason is here to tell the tales. Hair spray, Fire .... Flying down a
hill on a mattress ... really?
3. The story by Jonathan had us laughing all night as one by one we
figured out his hidden punch line. Only Jonathan would go skiing with "Brandy"
in his pocket. Brandy just happens to be a past diminutive girlfriend. HAH!
The winner? While we loved all the winter stories, Jason's dangerous side won
the day.
Now for the snow hares ...
Evaluations led by our General Evaluator Bill Farrand were excellent. Luis
took on the challenge of evaluating Richa's advanced speech project and truly
covered all the basis. Jeff, gave a solid evaluation with specific examples
utilizing the sandwich technique well as he delivered his feedback to Susie.
Luis took the blue ribbon for his ability to focus on all sections of Richa's
presentation and give feedback for all three portions of her presentation.
(Speech, Role Play and Q&A) Bill opened up the report section of his GE role
by threatening physical violence should functionaries take too long. A good
tip for giving your report is to stick to your top three to five observations.
*Bill your Canadian accent kills me EH*
Your ancillary roles for the evening:
Greeter: Robin McIntosh - or was it Jonathan Kolber?
Timer/Joker: Alan Wong
Ah-Counter: Pattie Apple
Grammarian/WOD: Adam Vesely (That's right Jason, it was NOT Luke :))
Inspiration: Jason Marine
Gesture Master: Robin McIntosh
Quiz Master: Yes, she can stump us Lori High
Report Master of the evening? Robin McIntosh delivered as Gesture Master using
NO WORDS!
