Here are two good online books on tcl, if you'd like to check out the shell/script language. Practical programming in tcl (455 pgs.) http://www.beedub.com/book/tkbook.pdf TCL for web nerds (about 50 pgs.) http://philip.greenspun.com/tcl/ The first url is an early draft of the tcl programming "bible" by Brent Welsh. tcl is very much a subset of lisp with easy to master syntax and limited data types. Most of "Practical programming" is devoted to the gui toolkit (tk). tcl proper takes up only the first 100 pgs. "TCL for web nerds" is briefer and focuses on using tcl with aolserver for web applications.
