ALARM ZONES

Can we put up "crime scene" tape to mark safe path to the bathrooms?

WORKSHOP INTERNET ACCESS

The dev group will work on Internet access to the workshop *after* we install a wireless network at the YMCA. The YMCA's FreeLan consult is in exchange for our rent-free FGMLUG Wednesday meeting room. Fr. Robert is currently setting up a walk-through at the Y.

We only need Internet access at the workshop on week nights (2 at the moment) and occasional weekends if public warehouse sales are approved by SBWD management. Therefore, piggy-backing on SBWD's Internet connection is probably all we need. SBWD uses the connection during daytime business hours. We would use the bandwidth during non-business hours.

If necessary. we can pay for our bandwidth since it won't be much. We can also ask Comcast and AT&T for a pro bono or discounted Internet connection.

OK gang, here we go...

Today I got a call from our host saying we needed to turn in the old keys and be issued new keys for the building.

Go to the 113 DOCK door. DO NOT enter through the 113 S/W door anymore. Doing so will set off alarms! Everyone's security codes have already been moved to the new alarm panel. Your codes did NOT change. Everything should work as before.

I've posted a note on the outside door instructing anyone coming up to use the 'other' door. We CAN park in front of the door area or across the street.

I'll be there @6pm to walk Mike through the changes.

Changes of note:

Bathrooms, Yes, we have to unlock a door and walk I'd say fairly close to 100 yards to get to the bathroom. However, these are normal and CLEAN facilities specifically for men AND women; read separate bathrooms! Of interest, STAY ON the central path AND DO NOT walk past the Red HOUSE! Yes, I said house. I can't divulge any more on the list.

Scale: If we can get it to work, were welcome to use it. However, it looked really broken. Anyone know how to repair a scale? BTW, it goes to 1,000 lbs.

We have full access to the lighting in the area.

Internet: If we can not get the wireless going and out host grants us permission, were looking @ approx 800 foot of wiring! However, in talking to the building guy, we MIGHT be able to shoot wireless for a good portion of it. Both end will be 'inside' but shooting through glass windows approx 400 feet apart from each other but except for the glass, NO obstructions.

Is that doable? We can use two of the 802.11b AP's we have lying around and link them together. Anyone want to help test it? Should make an interesting project.

Richard
