Hi Frits,
For off-platform boxes (ex: FCS Galaxy Server - Infusion) you can benefit from
it. Specially when you have multiple users accessing/changing the
configuration. This also proves to be a very good options when using tools like
Direct Access (the iccdrvr.tsk of Infusion World), since it can balance the
load way better and do not overload the CPU like the single core server.
I believe the same is valid for IACC and AIM (not sure thou).
But off-platform systems require an analysis, since it is a project choice and
have its advantages and disadvantages …
Best Regards,
Ricardo Abech

Interesting...
And isn't so that Foxboro is now offering 8 and 12 core machines at a premium???
What's the point?
Cheers,
Frits.

Frits,
I've been bugging Foxboro about this for years - apparently they can't run IA
multicore... Developing the system to run multi-core is on the roadmap
- after version 8.7 if I remember correctly.
I'd really hoped to at least be able to run the fairly CPU intensive anti-virus
on a separate core from the IA stuff, but no such luck (yet).
So, as CPUs shift to more cores with lower clock speeds, IA servers are getting
less rather than more capable...
Cheers,
Kevin
