I agree with Terry. Yes, the price from Foxboro will be 2x+, but you won't be
able to buy exactly what Foxboro bought. I did this (for spares) in the
UNIX/SUN days, but that hardware was more standardized. I don't think you can
do it from Dell (I tried for a spare early on and could not get an exact
match). You'll also risk loss of Foxboro support should an issue arise and they
become aware of your third-party-purchase.
Besides, Foxboro hardware cost is peanuts compared to software costs...

Would someone please give me the current hardware speck for a P9007A901210
server? I am putting in an Infusion Historian and the server in my quote is
optional. Just for grins, I would like to price out a similar box from
HP/Compaq since we have a corporate wide hardware purchase plan with them.
Of course, if the Foxboro is close, I would tend to buy from them because it
makes support easier.
