I would prefer to use Modbus, because modbus is easier for ME to fault find. You can plug in a laptop and listen to the transactions flying past. The transactions are simple to diagnose. Even ethereal can decode them if you use Modbus TCP/IP. I have not been able to do this with Profi. That is my opinion anyway. Profi has its good points too, but I don't know what's going on inside. Although when I just spelled check my email modbus came back as mudbugs and profi as profit.
