Joe,

The MSGNO increments when a string is written to in the code. I have that
setup at a few sites. It lets the operators know where they are at in the
process, operator action, hold-restart messages etc. I can send you an FV
library object if you'd like.

Don't overlook the FV msg bar which is graphic-independent. Of course, this
is written differently than seq messages.

Hi Joe,

There's really no difference presenting string messages in FoxView versus
DM. You just connect to one of the SN00xx parameters and use an appropriate
trigger parameter to force display updates. Some applications increment a
rolling integer index as the string update trigger and some might use the
sequence block MSGNO parameter. The MSGNO mechanism probably only works if
you use the SENDMSG statement...

Subject: [foxboro] Sending text "messages" from sequence code to the FoxView
displays

Folks,
I have a request from a client to 'efficiently send text "messages" from
sequence code to the FoxView displays indicating where they are in the
sequence'. I am just curious how many choices there are out there. I
already know we will have to insert the specific text "messages" into the
sequence code but not sure of the best way to handle in FoxView. My
experience has been with SENDMNSGs to SNs in DMs. What is the best way in
FoxView?

Thanks.
