I agree with everything Tom states. I tried it a few years back on a running
system using the Warm Start option. It worked fine. I believe the manual states
that there could be, on a warm start, a few seconds of lost communications.

Brian,

B0700BY_D - ZCP270 Online Image Update does a good job of defining the
procedure, process considerations, warm vs. cold restart for blocks, etc.
Although we are a batch operation and generally don't need to do online
updates, we did experiment with it and it went pretty much as advertised
(ZCP270s). As I recall, an online update with Fault Tolerant CPs allows you to
go live with the update on the first CP and then choose to proceed or revert
back before continuing with the second CP. I don't think the offline Image
Update has this option.

We are curious to know how many out in Foxboro Land do online CP image updates
and what can occur or issues it causes. What should be checked when complete?
What occurs to FDSI watchdog logic? Seq code? Logic/Calc blocks? PLB?

Thanks In Advance,
