Utilize both cases, depending on the site. NAS backups set up on 2nd Ethernet
network to P0973JP (8-Port Copper / 8-Port Fiber Managed Switch) . Works better
when we connect NAS to one of the two Up/Down ports of switch and port is
configured for 1MB speed (port is considered as a data port). The standard
10/100 ports are ok, but if you get too many machines trying to backup up to
the NAS simultaneously or even just overlapping because one took too long, the
backup can and probably will stall/fail.

Subject: [foxboro] Network Attached Storage for backups
I presume that most are using BESR from Symantec for server backups. If not
please share which product you prefer.
Also, who is using NAS for BESR and who is using simpler external HDD(s)?
What are your backup habits...
scheduled and automated?
done manually on a schedule?
done manually when you feel it is needed?
backups are for sissies?
