Dirk, Yes, you can install multiple InBatch clients on a Windows Server. I am not familiar with your project and I certainly don't want to make any false assumptions without understanding your project requirements, but the InBatch software does support multiple batch clients from a Windows server. Typically this is configured using Windows terminal services and is being used by many clients to support the needs for multiple batch clients. There are licensing implications using batch clients with terminal services, but I can't speak about what those may be for your project. I recommend that you discuss this further with your project team and with the global client support organization. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. We're scheduled to replace a Unix I/A batch 8.0 by Inbatch in September. For the moment we are running 4 to 6 DM licenses on each Unix box, which means we can control 4-6 production units from each unix station from 2 or 3 different locations. We have one Batch client installed per station. our current I/A batch seems to be able to handle numerous batchview sessions simultaneously per client/station, which enables an operator to open multiple batch sessions on different DM's on the same unix box or operator #1 opens a session on the box and operator #2 opens a session on the same box for another unit from a different location. Now for the catch: I'm told (after we purchased the new server hardware unfortunately!) off the record by Invensys that Inbatch client can only handle one batchsession. So if we replace 4 unix boxes by 2 H90's, (15 fv's each)we can only open 1 batchsession on H90 #1 and the second on H90 #2 and that's it. This means that for about 6 units, we can open only 1 INbatch session a time, which is a problem because those 6 units are controlled by 2 or 3 operators from 2 or 3 different locations... If operator 1 is busy in Inbatch or forgets to close his session, he locks out the other operators. I've asked Invensys to confirm this months ago, but it seems a difficult question... Question 1: can anyone using IN batch confirm this is the case? Question 2: Can we install multiple Inbatch clients on one H90? Question 3: possible workarounds? Thanks!
